Carl was born in Cebu City, Philippines.
When he was 8, he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana.
Having a relationship with God became important to him in 8th grade.
After high school he went to Purdue University.
There he became a Younglife leader in Lafayette for 5.5 years.
Carl made his first game while working at the Exhibit Design Center-it was featured at the Indiana State Museum.
He studied at the University of Sussex in Brighton, England for six months. There he was given the chance to write a blog about his experiences for the local newspaper, The Argus.
During his trimester break, he spent 24 days amassing stories as he backpacked around Europe.
When he got back to Purdue he was able to help organize Purdue's first annual Stand for Freedom benefitting International Justice Mission.
After a year of freelancing, Carl decided to get his Masters degree researching character attachment in games.
He spent three months in summer after his first year teaching English and computer classes in Cambodia. Afterwards he was able to visit his hometown in Cebu.
During his second year, he began making ZORP and founded Wonky Rhino Games right after defending his thesis.
